Are there any other parents/ grandparents that are getting fed up of having to walk the children on the road when going around the village to School, the Shop and the Village Hall because of all the Dog Mess all over the paths and the cars parked on the paths.

About Wawne - which lies within the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

The village of Wawne is the main residential village in the parish of Wawne, which lies within the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. 

The village is located in close proximity to the city of Kingston Upon Hull and the historic town of Beverley.

According to the 2011 UK census the parish of Wawne had a population of 975.

There are 400+ dwellings within the village and the entire parish covers 1,753.4 hectares.

Within the village there is a popular primary school, a post office and general store as well as a village hall which holds a number of varied activities. There is also St Peter’s church where worship has taken place for 900 years. A public house to be found as you enter the village.

The village is surrounded by farmland both arable and livestock.

Dates for Your Diary

On Thursday 7th September, the Wawne Village Hall had a coffee morning for McMillan cancer support they made £427.00 so far. Thanks to everyone.

October 

Coffee morning - Saturday 21st October  from 9.30am.

 

November

Boxes and Butties - Saturday 11th November from 9.30am, on offer breakfast butties.
Operation Christmas Child-Samaritians Purse, all money taken will be put towards the transportation costs.  We have boxes ready to fill with gifts, donations of gifts and money (£3 per box for transport fees) will be gratefully appreciated.  Come along and help fill the boxes or bring your own and give a child a glimmer of joy.

 

December

Christmas Tree Lighting - Friday 1st December 

Hot chocolate and marshmallows in the Village Hall prior to the walk with Santa  for the switching on of the lights, then carol singing and mince pies in the church.

Breakfast with Santa -Saturday 2nd December 
Children can meet Santa and have a breakfast, and receive a gift.  Also, butties and drinks on sale and various stalls, including crafts. Details in next months issue.

Paul Wheater Concert - Saturday 9th December.  Details in next months issue.
