Wawne Festival and Show

We have now had our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and

we have elected our officers as follows;

Jacob Birch - Chairman

Martin Benge – Vice Chairman

Janet Benge – Secretary

Michelle Lount - Treasurer

We also have elected a number of committee members to help with the planning alongside the officers; Ron Feetom, Margaret Hodgson, Edith Shipley, Elaine Shiels, David Shiels, John O’Donogue, Gill Leng, Tony Getting, Dean

McGuigan and Chris Shipley.

 

I would like to say thank you to all those who attended the AGM and volunteered to be part of the committee which organises the Villages biggest calendar event.

Before I continue, I would like to say thank you and pay tribute to Ron Feetom, who after many years of service to the village not just Wawne Festival has decided to resign from the committee. On behalf of the committee I would like to say a massive thank you to Ron. Ron you are now able to enjoy the

show day rather than sitting on the gate, you will be greatly missed.

 

Moving forward and looking at the 2019 Wawne Festival we have had a think about the name and it was suggest we rename to “Wawne Fest”. We feel this is more in line with other community events up and down the country.

 

We have also agreed on the date for the 2019 show and  that is Saturday 13th July 2019. For the 2019 Wawne Fest we are looking to make a number of changes to the events we hold and the way they work. We are also continuing to work with FOWSA to do the café which helped them increased their funding massively. We are also developing our working relationship with the Primary School, to ensure that the school is able to benefit from the day as much

as the rest of the village.
