Would you like to help your local school and become a school governor?

I have been asked by the Parish Council to remind parents

·         When parking in the village please be responsible and considerate avoiding drive ways.

·         The village hall car park is available for parking during school time.

·         To maintain the attractive appearance of the village please avoid parking on the kerbs, grass verges and paths. More importantly it is illegal and a parking fines can be issued.

·         For safety, the speed limit in the village is 20mph.

Wawne Parent Car Park and Drop Point

To support the Parish Council's road safety improvements, it has been proposed to provide a parking area within the school grounds and utilise the second entrance used during Wawne Show. The cost of the project is £21,000 and school has identified £11,000 which can be allocated to the project. The Friends of Wawne Primary School (FOWSA), a registered charity, has taken up the task of raise the remaining £10, 000. The construction of both the car park and drive will be in permeable materials so that there will be natural drainage. The parents and FOWSA have raised £2410 so far and are looking for further support. If you would like to donate or know of any grants that may be available please contact school.

The car park and second entrance will be a great asset during Wawne Show as it significantly improves the area of the school field that can become very muddy in heavy rain. The last time Wawne Show was cancelled was because vehicles couldn't access the field through this area. The following year Wawne Show Committee contributed approx. £100 towards improving access to the field.

Wawne Primary School has maintained its GOOD rating. I would like to say a huge thank you to the children, parents, staff and Governors who work so hard to make the school an exciting place to learn. If you wish to read the report it is published on the school website.

National Lottery Grant Award

We successfully applied for the grant to replace our aging wooden Play-trail. I would like to thank parents Paul and Mike Fisher and Ian Parker for assisting myself and Mr Harris to install 50 metres of land drains and 10 tonnes of pebbles to greatly improve drainage and preserve the 15-year guarantee on the new Play-trail. The new Play-trail is under construction and will be available for the Wawne Show in the summer.
